Applications › Custom Parts & Enclosures
Threads in plastic need metal. We install heat-set brass inserts in standard metric and imperial sizes on every part that gets fastened, and for parts that need an insert the fastener cannot reach, we pause the print and embed the insert, nut or hardware so the plastic closes around it. The same technique sets printed acrylic badges and magnets into the part with no adhesive.
Typical examples
- Brackets and housings with M3 to M8 inserts
- Parts with captured nuts and hardware embedded mid-print
- Magnets encapsulated in the part
- Printed badges and acrylic inserts set mid-print
- Multi-material parts with metal reinforcement
Materials, process and quantities
