Backlit, Deadfront & Status Interfaces

Legends that light up, icons that disappear when off, and status zones that change color with the LED behind them.

Applications › Interfaces & Control Graphics

Backlit interfaces need the white layer controlled zone by zone: full white where the panel must be opaque, reduced or no white where light should pass, and colored translucent print where a status icon should glow red, amber or green. Deadfront panels use a dark face with translucent symbols so the panel looks blank until the LED comes on. We tune the transmission per zone and check it against your light source.

Typical examples

  • Backlit legends on sanitation and food-processing controllers
  • Colored status icons on hydraulic and process equipment
  • Deadfront operator panels on robotic cells
  • Night-visible legends on vehicle and equipment panels
  • Indicator windows with diffused white print

Materials, process and quantities

Materials Clear polycarbonate or polyester film, smoked rigid polycarbonate, clear rigid polycarbonate.
How it is made Second-surface print with selective and graduated white, translucent color zones, deadfront dark layer with knockouts, laser or CNC cutting.
Quantities One piece to prove the fit, then the run. Prototype samples, bridge quantities while a program settles, and recurring releases against a blanket order, each quoted on its own.
Options Transmission tuned to your LED, diffuser zones, color-change icons, deadfront on film or rigid, combined with a clear display window.
Who orders this Industrial automation, robotics, automotive-style interfaces, instrumentation.

What to send
